Selena Gomez called 911 on Sunday, as she believed there was an intruder in her house.
The pop star arrived back at her house, in the city of Calabasas, in Los Angeles County, just before midnight and saw that her back door was wide open.
She called the police who checked the house and confirmed there was no one inside.
The Love Me Like A Love Song singer has cause for concern however as she previously has called the police because of a stalker who broke into her home.
He was later arrested but attempted to make his way back to her home after his release. On 20 June he was admitted to a mental health facility but was only required to spend 30 days there.
The 21-year-old has had an upsetting few months, as her grandfather revealed that the singer is being treated for lupus.
Ricardo Gomez confirmed to Radar Online that Selena was diagnosed with the auto-immune disease "a couple of years ago" but is now coping well with her symptoms. "She's in treatment," said Ricardo. "She's getting along pretty good."
Earlier in the year Selena checked herself into rehab to "spend time on herself". She later spoke candidly about the pressures she has been under throughout her career in the spotlight.
"I'm surrounded by people who are supposed to guide me, and some of them have and others haven't," she said during an inspiring and emotional speech at the first WE Day California event in January.
"They pressure me: 'You gotta be sexy, you gotta be cute, you gotta be nice, you gotta be all these things."
Until recently I had given into that pressure. I lost sight of who I was. I listened to the opinions of people and I tried to change who I am because I thought others would accept me for it. And I realised I don't know how to be anything but me."
