Charlotte Church took to Twitter on Tuesday to deny reports that she said she will have to work for the rest of her life, "not because I want to but because I have to".
It was reported that the former child star was bankrupted, despite a supposed fortune of £25 million at the height of her fame in 2003, but joked in an interview with BBC Wales that "The tax man is looking at my accounts wondering where I'm hiding all my money", as the figures of her supposed fortune were incorrect.
Charlotte Church has admitted that she no longer has a vast fortune
Charlotte then took to the social media site and blamed the media for suggesting she was having to work due to financial difficulties rather than by choice. "I never said I was 'broke', you lazy 'journalists,' she tweeted. "I said that the tax man is wondering where my supposed £25 million is! Because rags like yours have been making up figures of what my wealth is for the last decade or more!"
"I also said that I would work the rest of my life, BECAUSE I WANT TO!" she continued. "I ENJOY IT!"
Charlotte currently lives in a villa in the Vale of Glamorgan with her children and partner Jonathan Powell. She has set up her own record label, Alligator Wine, and released a series of experimental songs, produced from the home studio in her back garden.
Mum-of-two Charlotte, 28, has sold more than ten million records in her career. "My life is so full and so rich I definitely feel like I've had the good side of the deal," said the star, mum to Ruby, six, and five-year-old Dexter from her previous relationship with Gavin Henson.

She is also planning on studying for a physics degree. Charlotte also spoke about her finances and future plans during an interview with Stylist magazine in February. "I haven't got a lot of money," she said. "I've got enough to be comfortable if I was reasonable for the rest of my life, but I'm not reasonable, so I will have to find a way to sustain my lifestyle.

"It only recently dawned on me that I don't have to be a singer," she added. "…I guess I'm lucky to have a bit of wealth behind me that I can go to university. "I never want to stop educating myself. And I want my kids to see my career and see that it's possible to dart from one end of the spectrum to another. I feel like I know my own power and strengths now – if I set my mind to something, I absolutely will achieve that."
