Cressida Bonas makes stage debut at Hay Festival

Cressida Bonas' acting career just took a leap forward – the budding thespian made her stage debut this weekend.Prince Harry's former girlfriend appeared in a production of There's a Monster in the Lake at the How The Light Gets In Festival of Philosophy and Music, a spin-off of the Hay Festival in Wales. Cressida was cast in the role of wolf for the one-off show, presented at the alternative part of the arts and literature event.

The play was written by Tallulah Brown and is being directed by Lily Ashley, whose grandmother was fashion and interiors designer Laura Ashley. It will move to the Rosemary Branch theatre in Islington, London, later this month where the team behind it will put on regular shows. Cressida's acting career is going from strength to strength, with the former drama student recently landing her first big screen role alongside Cara Delevingne in Tulip Fever.

The 25-year-old will aact alongside rising stars Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spiderman 2) and Jack O'Connell (from Angelina Jolie's upcoming Unbroken) as well as Glee's Matthew Morrison, Dame Judi Dench, and Christoph Waltz. She will play a young merchant's wife in the film, which is set in the 17th century and follows a married woman who begins a passionate affair with an artist hired to paint her portrait. Shortly after Cressida parted ways with Prince Harry back in April, a friend close to the couple said that she was now eager to make her career a priority.

"[Cressida] wants to focus on her career," said the source. "And Harry is really keen that she is allowed to get on with her life. "In a recent interview with the Sunday Times Cressida said of her career: "Acting, dancing and singing is something I have done my whole life. Being part of a creative team is the best thing in the world and I feel very happy within a creative environment."
