Billie was travelling with her two sons, Winston, five, and Eugene, two, at the time of the incident. She was so affected by the collision that she pulled out of her performance in the West End play Great Britain shortly before the curtain went up.

The star, married to Lewis actor Laurence Fox, was in her VW Golf when she reportedly attempted a U-turn on a road behind King’s Cross station in London at around 4pm on 29 July. According to the Mail on Sunday, she was moving at less than five miles per hour at the time of the collision.

The teenage male, apparently travelling downhill at some speed, crashed into the back of her car and was thrown to the ground. He received treatment for a shoulder injury from the London Ambulance Service before being driven to University College Hospital.

After speaking to police, Billie continued on to the National Theatre on London's South Bank ahead of her performance. However, she felt too shaken to go on stage, and her understudy Jo Dockery took over the role 15 minutes before the show get underway. A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed: "Police were called to Goods Way, King's Cross, by the London Ambulance Service at 15.56hrs on Tuesday July 29 to reports of a road traffic collision between a motor vehicle and a cyclist. The driver of the vehicle was female. Enquiries continue. No further details at this stage."
