There's just one month to go until Gordon Ramsay competes in the Ironman Wales competition. By his side every step of the way as he prepares for the challenge is his 14-year-old son Jack. Gordon, 47, shared a photograph on Instagram this week that showed him posing on the beach with his boy. "Great swim this morning with my best mate," the celebrity chef wrote alongside the snap of him and Jack, who bears a strong resemblance to his famous father.
On 14 September, Gordon is set to take part in the gruelling Ironman Wales in Tenby, which involves a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile marathon, and is reputedly one of the toughest on the European circuit. It's not the first time that the British star has pushed himself to his physical limits in an Ironman competition; in October, he took part in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
Speaking about his upcoming challenge, Gordon said, "When I was growing up in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Tenby was a destination for our family holidays which I have never forgotten. "I have happy memories of the beautiful beaches and amazing scenic backdrop and am looking forward to now racing there for the first time at Ironman Wales. "Gordon's year-long push to get fit is thanks, in part, to his wife Tana, who urged him to lose some weight – he has since lost around two stone.
"I've now got my six pack back," the star recently told Entertainment Tonight. "It's gone from two to four to six. She (Tana) put me on a strict diet. Every day she made me stand on those scales." She closed our kitchen down and turned it into a utility room. That's like your wife driving your car every day and burning the clutch," he joked.
