Pierre Rainier Stefano Casiraghi is the younger son of Princess Caroline of Hanover, and her second husband, Stefano Casiraghi. Pierre is the fourth-in-line to the Monegasque throne, following his mother, brother Andrea and nephew Alexandre. He is named after his maternal great-grandfather, Prince Pierre, Duke of Valentinois, his maternal grandfather, Prince Rainier III, and his father. Pierre was three-years-old when his father died in a boating accident. He spent his earliest years living at his mother's farmhouse in the quaint town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence where he attended a state school. After his mother's marriage to Ernst August V, Prince of Hanover, the family moved to Fontainebleau, to be nearer to Paris and London, the latter being where his new stepbrothers lived with their mother. It is understood that Pierre passed the French Baccalaureate exam in the summer of 2005 as he began university shortly afterwards. Pierre has been in a relationship with Beatrice Borromeo since 2008 after they met while both studying at Milan's Luigi Bocconi University. Here, Pierre studied a three-year undergraduate course in International Economics and Management. The couple's strong relationship was first captured in 2010, as the dashing young Monegasque royal and his Italian girlfriend seemed to be enjoying each other's company more than ever as they holidayed in Formentera. The pair's love continued to flourish as they were spotted cuddling up to each other at the races in Monaco in January of last year, before being spotted affectionately kissing at the same event one year later. The couple have been together for five years.
