Alecia Beth Moore Hart, better known as Pink, is an American singer and songwriter. She has often been seen as 'edgy', and has had a number of dramatic hairstyles, from fluorescent spikes to pink-streaked dreadlocks and a pitch-black skater cut. Her father is Catholic and her mother is Jewish.
Although a healthy baby at birth, she quickly developed asthma that plagued her through her early years. Pink grew up in Doylestown, where she attended Kutz Elementary School, Lenape Middle School, and Central Bucks High School West. She was also a gymnast for eight years; she stated in an interview that her first dream was to appear at the Olympics.
Inspired by her musical father, Pink's love of music was fuelled when she became a member of the R&B girl group Choice, whose debut album Can't Take Me Home was certified double platinum in the United States. Two tracks from the album also made Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles.
Pink gained further recognition as an artist, as she collaborated with Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim and Mya on the cover version of Lady Marmalade for the 2001 Moulin Rouge! soundtrack. This song secured Pink her first Grammy Award as her first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100.
Pink met professional motocross racer Carey Hart at the 2001 X Games in Philadelphia. After separating for a short space of time, the pair found themselves back together before Carey proposed in 2005.
In 2011, Pink gave birth to her first and only daughter Willow. At just five months old, in honour of the screening of Happy Feet Two, Willow was dressed up in a penguin all-in-one and had her red carpet debut as she was taken to the LA premiere. The couple had already introduced their new-born baby to other areas of America such as the Big Apple.
There is some speculation that Pink may be pregnant with her second child, after she shared a very cryptic tweet to her Twitter followers, writing, "I love that every time I find a box of Girl Scout cookies I'm pregnant. Guilty: I'm having a thin mint:)". She is yet to confirm the pregnancy, but the 35-year-old would have been overwhelmed by her fan base of over 23 million followers, as they immediately sent her congratulatory messages about the news.
Pink recently showed her acrobatic side while performing her hit song Try at the 2014 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. During her performance, the singer was joined on the stage by Fun's Nate Ruess while singing their hit duet Just Give Me a Reason. This song was nominated for Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
