All eyes will be on Venice this weekend when George Clooney marries British lawyer Amal Alamuddin. As the actor prepares to give up his status as the world's most eligible bachelor more details are emerging about the ceremony. It is thought the silver fox has asked his friend Walter Veltroni, an Italian writer and politician, to officiate. A representative of Venice municipality confirms that Walter, the former mayor of Rome, will conduct the ceremony, People reports.
Amal, a human rights specialist who is also something of a glamour puss, was seen visiting the headquarters of Alexander McQueen recently, suggesting she has chosen chief designer Sarah Burton to create her dream gown.Royal watchers will remember that Sarah was responsible for the Duchess of Cambrige, née Kate Middleton's spectacular gown.
George has opted for a suit by Giorgio Armani, an old friend who has kitted him out for red carpet occasions over the years.
The evening before their big day the bride and groom will invite guests to a casual dinner at Belmond Hotel Cipriani. The next day the happy couple will seal their one-year courtship at a waterside location, possibly the Aman Canal Grande Venice Hotel or the Ca' Farsetti Palace, which both have magnificent views.
See this week's HELLO! magazine for more details about George and Amal's plans.
