Amal Alamuddin drawn as a Simpsons character: see the stylish cartoons

October 6, 2014

Amal Alamuddin proved that she was the fashion world's new darling when she stepped out in a series of designer outfits over her wedding weekend. The new Mrs Clooney showcased a well put together wardrobe, not to mention her beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown she donned for the main event. In celebration of Amal's new fashion status, Italian artist aleXsandro Palombo has envisioned what the human rights lawyer would look like as a Simpsons character.

In one cartoon, Amal, 36, is immortalised as a Springfield resident on her 27 September wedding day to Hollywood actor George. The sketch shows the couple posing in the same manner as they did for their HELLO! magazine cover photo. Another image shows Amal in the bespoke Stella McCartney trouser suit she wore two days after her nuptials, to sign the wedding register in Venice. Amal completed her crisp outfit with an elegant wide-brimmed hat, echoing Biana Jagger's white suit look when she married Mick Jagger in 1971.

aleXsandro also depicted Amal in her other designer outfits from the weekend, including the lace Giambattista Valli thigh-skimming frock she donned for her first appearance as Mrs Clooney, and the red waterfall Alexander McQueen dress she wore at the rehearsal dinner. Most of the sketches show a "Simpsonised" Amal aboard the "Amore" taxi boat, which she and George frequently took to travel around the Floating City.

This is not the first time aleXsandro has transformed a famous face into the subject of his art. Two months ago the illustrator honoured the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, with a series of images of the royal's most famous looks. Prince William's wife – the woman behind the "Kate" effect – was depicted in various stylish outfits, from royal engagements to red carpet appearances. One cartoon portrayed dozens of "Simpsonised" Kates standing outside Buckingham Palace, flaunting different numbers. aleXsandro also opted to convert the Queen into a Springfield resident, with her cartoon character posing with Kate in the palace's throne room and by the grand staircase.
