Take That release first single as a trio

Take That have released their new single, entitled These Days. The single is their first as a three-piece band.The trio – Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald – joined Chris Evans on his Radio 2 breakfast show on Friday morning as the upbeat tune played for the first time.

Gary said: "We'd been promising our fans for two years now 'this record's coming', and like Mark said, we got to the beginning of the year and we said to J 'listen, we've got to start this record'.

"We waited and waited until the last point, and we're rushing everything now because we finally got a decision and we have to respect that. "Of the departure of their fourth member, Jason Orange, who announced he was leaving the boy band in September, Gary added: "We want to move forward as a three right now." The boys also announced that their new album, titled III, is set for release in time for Christmas on 1 December.

The artwork was revealed in Piccadilly Circus on Thursday evening. Representing their new phase, the cover features three colourful silhouettes. Jason announced he was leaving the band at the end of September, after having giving the move thought for some time.

A statement posted on Take That’s website broke the news, which saddened fans across the world.

This is the trio's first single

"At a band meeting last week I confirmed to Mark, Gary and Howard that I do not wish to commit to recording and promoting a new album," he said. "There have been no fallings out, only a decision on my part that I no longer wish to do this." Jason added: "I have spent some of the best years of my life with Take That and I'd like to thank everyone who has been a part of my journey, including my band mates, who I feel are like brothers to me."
