There was denying the striking resemblance between Uma Thurman and her 16-year-old daughter Maya as they headed out together in New York on Monday evening. The pair put in a rare joint appearance at the premiere for The Theory of Everything - and it was instantly clear that Maya has inherited her mother’s almost ethereal beauty.

Blue-eyed teen Maya looked like a little fashionista in a sleeveless blue dress that fell to her knees. Actress Uma – effortlessly stylish in jeans, a black jumper and coat – beamed with pride as they stood side-by-side and smiled for the cameras. The close bond between mother and daughter was clear, and at one point Maya leaned over and sweetly gave her mum a kiss on the cheek. Maya is Uma's eldest child, from her marriage to Ethan Hawke. The former couple are also parents to son Levon, 12. The Kill Bill star is also a mother to two-year-old Luna from her relationship with Arpad Busson. The former couple are currently embroiled in a custody battle, after Arpad, 51, filed an emergency court order in Manhattan last week.

Uma quickly issued a statement, saying she hoped that the matter would be settled amicably and fairly. "It is unfortunate that this very private discussion regarding Mr Busson's visitation rights and his participation in decision making has been made public," a spokesperson for the star said. "However, we are optimistic that a fair agreement for both sides will be reached out of court."
