Sofia Vergara managed to remain calm and collected as she experienced an awkward run-in with her ex-fiancé Nick Loeb. The Modern Family star, who split from the New York businessman in May of this year, was talking about her new boyfriend Joe Manganiello during a red carpet interview when the incident happened. As Sofia, 42, spoke about her actor love on camera, Nick crept up behind her saying "Good to see you" as he walked by.

Ever the professional, the Colombian beauty gave her ex a cool smile and carried on with the interview. "It was very interesting," she said, speaking about her visit to see Joe on the Magic Mike XXL set. "They were rehearsing the dances so it was really great." When asked whether her boyfriend practised his moves on her, Sofia chuckled, saying, "I'm not going to tell you that. Are you crazy?" before adding with a wink, "Maybe, maybe. I'm a good choreographer."

Sofia was attending fundraising event The Angel Ball in New York with celebrity jeweller Lorraine Schwartz and her 22-year-old son Manolo. The actress paid tribute to her close friend by accessorising her metallic strapless gown with large diamond shaped earrings and a mammoth sparkly rock designed by Lorraine. Sofia shared a sweet snap of herself and the jeweller on her Instagram account, with the caption, "With my amazing friend @lorraineschwartz at the #angelball." Joining Sofia on the star-studded guest list were famous faces including heiresses Paris and Nicky Hilton and Blake Lively, who showed off her growing baby bump in a plunging yellow, figure-hugging dress.

The lavish ball, which featured live entertainment by Ludacris, Alicia Keys and Jamie Foxx, was held to raise money for Gabrielle's Angel Foundation. The event honours individuals who have made significant humanitarian and philanthropic contributions in support of cancer research. Sofia and Joe were first romantically linked in July – two months after the actress and her ex-fiancé broke off their engagement. "We have [been] having too many problems with figuring out how to spend time together and [because] of my work and now his, it's been getting worse and worse, not fun anymore," Sofia said at the time on her Who Say account. "We are still very close but we [believe this] is the best thing for us right now."
