Rita Ora on her ex Calvin Harris: 'It was the right guy, wrong time'

October 29, 2014

Rita Ora has said her ex Calvin Harris was the right man for her – but that they dated at the wrong time. The British singer opened up about the couple's relationship in a new interview with Cosmopolitan, and said that despite their split, they remain on good terms.

"It was the right guy at the wrong time," Rita, 23, said. "I was about to start a tour, and he was also all over the place. There's only so much you can do when you don't see each other."

Many fans had assumed the couple's breakup was bitter – Scottish DJ Cg their track I Will Never Let You Down at the Teen Choice Awards. But Rita said it was simply distance that caused the relationship to end.

"I really admire people who have long-distance relationships," she added. "It's an incredible achievement. I couldn't do it."

Rita and Calvin, 30, started dating in May 2013 – but in June of this year, he used Twitter to confirm that they had split up.

"To address speculation – myself and Rita ended our relationship some time ago. She is a beautiful, talented woman & I wish her all the best," he wrote.

Calvin is now in a new relationship with model Aarika Wolf. It's thought they started dating in August after meeting on the set of his music video, and were recently spotted enjoying a sweet date at the Mr Bones’ Pumpkin Patch.

Rita, meanwhile, is dating Ricky Hil – the 24-year-old son of designer Tommy Hilfiger.
