Hayden Panettiere on gaining pregnancy weight and motherhood: ‘I’m so ready to hold my baby girl’

November 4, 2014

With her baby due any day now, heavily pregnant Hayden Panettiere says she's eagerly looking forward to becoming mother.

"I'm so ready to hold my baby girl — I'm going to be a very hands-on mom," she exclusively told Hello!, adding,"I'm thrilled that I am having a girl first because I feel like I know a lot about raising a strong woman. I feel very empowered myself and I think my daughter will, too."

The pint-sized actress, who is expecting her first baby with her boxer fiancé, Wladimir Klitschko, was candid about struggling with weight gain during her pregnancy.

“I'm 5 feet, 2 inches and I started out at 106 pounds and guess how much I weigh now? Around 145 pounds,” she said.

“And the worst part is that my feet are still size five and they're going, ‘What's going on with all this weight?’ They're about to snap from underneath me with the strain.”

The former gymnast, who showed off her baby bump in a racy, cheetah-inspired Halloween costume this week, believes some of the baby weight can be attributed to lean muscle mass.

“I'm still quite muscular, so if you're running around carrying 40 pounds of extra weight, you're going to build extra muscle," she said.

And while Hayden is looking forward to saying her “I dos” with Wladmir, 38, she says she’s in no rush to tie the knot.

"I'll tell you one thing for sure: I am not walking down the aisle 40 pounds heavier than usual in a wedding dress with a huge pregnancy belly stitched in," she said. "Not happening."
