Thirty years after Lynda Bellingham starred in the famous Oxo advert, ITV have revealed that they will air the commercial again on Christmas Day in tribute of the "nation's favourite mum."
"Fans got in touch with the channel to ask for the advert to be aired, after Lynda sadly passed away in October. Lynda had been battling bowel cancer, and had hoped to spend one last Christmas with her loved ones.
In her final TV appearance on Loose Women, filmed the day before she passed, Lynda spoke about her brave decision over the summer to stop her chemotherapy treatment– one year after her initial diagnosis. Her husband Michael was sat in the audience, and was visibly moved by his wife's bravery. The actress decided to end her treatment in August to limit her family's suffering, after the disease spread to her lungs and her liver.
"The My Christmas Oxo advert from 1984, starring much-loved actress Lynda Bellingham, will be re-screened on Christmas Day in memory of her life and career.", Premier Foods, the owners of the Oxo brand, said in a statement.
"Over the past few weeks, hundreds of thousands of Lynda's fans have rallied behind a call for the return of the ad as a fitting tribute for all the inspiring things she achieved during her career.
"To honour the sad loss of such a fabulous actress, organisations and individuals involved in the creation and production of this initiative have given freely of their time.
"Premier Foods will make a donation to Action Against Cancer, one of the charities supported by Lynda, in line with the wishes of her family."
