David Beckham reveals travel adventures in Asia: see photos

November 18, 2014

David Beckham mixed business with pleasure as he travelled around Asia to promote his new whisky Haig Club. The retired footballer star left his wife Victoria and their four children at home to take his latest project from Scotland to the Far East. Keeping his fans updated on his Facebook page, David kicked off his trip in South Korea, before making his way around China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore. His most recent high-profile appearance was on Saturday, when he turned on the Christmas lights in Singapore. Faced with hordes of fans who covered every inch of the Marina Bay Sands shopping centre, David was given a warm welcome as he waved to the crowds around him.

Shoppers excitedly held out their phones from all levels of the building, in a bid to capture a photo of the former England football captain who retired last year. David set hearts aflutter as he delivered a festive speech, donning a charcoal suit for the event and wearing his hair perfectly coiffed back in his trademark style. The popular Brit also found the time to dine at one of his favourite restaurants in Singapore, where he happily signed a board with the personal message: "The most amazing people and food... All my love David."

The heavily tattooed star – who has inkings dedicated to his wife Victoria, sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz and daughter Harper – also showed off his latest body art in a close up photo of his hand. The new "723" tattoo represents the numbers on David's old football shirts during his time playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy. Taking a break from his whisky promotion, David shared another idyllic snap of himself relaxing in an infinity pool, with a line of Singapore's skyscrapers as his backdrop.

The athlete's warm greeting in Singapore is something David will have experienced at most of his appearances. Again taking to Facebook to thank the Breitling store in Malaysia for their "incredible reception," David posted another photo of himself and a young boy bonding and sharing a joke. His promotion rounds looked to have included a lavish dinner in Hanoi, Vietnam, which will have left an impression on David as he admitted he "hoped to visit again soon".
