Now an ambassador for mental health charity Mind, Cheska says: "I can see now that my depression was building up for some time, but I buried it and buried it and tried so hard to put on a front because the alternative was to deal with intensely painful things that I had such confused feelings about. "Cheska tells HELLO! she was left devastated when her boyfriend of two-and-a-half years, a banker called Mike, ended the relationship. "I was heartbroken, bereft, a mess," she revealed. "I hadn't seen it coming, although in retrospect, I can see he and I were not on the same page.

"I'd got to the stage where I'd wanted us to move in together and for things to start moving forwards. I was completely in love with him. My thoughts were moving towards marriage, children, which, on reflection, he was always reticent to discuss. "And she was also dealing with the death of her father Robin, who hanged himself in Hong Kong in 2011. "I knew he wasn't in a positive place, although never how bad it had got," she reveals. "But there's always that nagging regret of, 'What if I’d got round to returning that last missed call?'"But, she says, with the help of counseling she is now feeling better. "My father's death is something that will affect me forever, but I'm more at peace with it and him and I know now that I wasn't crazy or stupid for feeling the way I felt. I just should have got help a lot sooner."SEE THE FULL EXCLUSIVE ARTICLE IN HELLO! MAGAZINE, OUT NOW.For extra photos, video and enriched content, download our iPad app from Apple iTunes here.
