Emma Watson and her boyfriend Matthew Janney have ended their year-long romance. The couple decided to go their separate ways a month ago, with the actress’ busy work schedule leaving little time for her to focus on the relationship. A spokesperson confirmed the break-up to the Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye, adding that things remain "amicable" between the pair.
Emma Watson and Matt Janney have ended their year-long romance
Emma, 24, and 22-year-old Matt – a top rugby player who is reading Russian at Oxford University – started dating at the end of 2013, but often spent time apart because of her professional commitments and his studying. Their romance was confirmed in January when they were spotted on a romantic Caribbean holiday. "They didn't have a care in the world," a source told the Mirror at the time. "Matt was very protective of Emma, often putting his arm around her. "He was being a gentleman the whole time. He is clearly very much into her. They couldn't stop giggling and smiling the whole time."
Emma has just finished filming Regression with Ethan Hawke
Emma is currently in Buenos Aires filming political drama Colonia Dignidad, alongside Daniel Bruhl and Michael Nyqvist. She has just finished shooting Regression with Ethan Hawke, and will soon start work on La La Land, a film about a jazz musician who falls in love with an aspiring actress. It's been a big year for Emma, who also graduated from Brown University in May. She was presented with her bachelor's degree in English literature – a qualification she managed to complete while juggling her film career.
The actress started studying at Brown in September 2009. In 2011, she put her four-year course on hold while filming the final instalment of the Harry Potter films. Emma then transferred from Brown to Oxford University in 2011 to carry on studying for a year of her course, but then took another break to shoot The Perks of Being A Wallflower.
