Chris Martin talks about working with Angelina Jolie

December 19, 2014

Chris Martin has joked that Angelina Jolie forced him to write a song for her new movie Unbroken. The Coldplay star's track Miracles plays during the end credits of the film, but he said that Angelina and her husband Brad Pitt went to extreme lengths to convince the band to work with them on the soundtrack. Speaking to Vulture, Chris joked: "I got a message that said, 'Meet in this undisclosed location. You'll be blindfolded and picked up by seven ex-Navy SEALS'. So they kidnapped me, hit me over the head, and sprayed me with Mace.

Chris Martin joked that he was forced to write a song by Angelina Jolie

"When I woke up, I was in an office, and Brad Pitt was doing push-ups as Angelina Jolie was just sitting there with her crown on. There was also a guy holding a knife to my throat, and she said, 'Write me a song, or else.' And Brad Pitt said, 'Yeah, what she said.'" The 37-year-old said that he enjoys the challenge of writing a single track for a movie soundtrack as there are more strict restrictions to follow. "I find that a little bit of limitation is really helpful when you're trying to create," he said. "Let's say you come up with an idea – like, 'I want to have a school for wizards' – then you've got a nice parentheses to put everything in.

Unbroken is the second film that Angelina Jolie has directed

"It's the same when someone says to me, 'Here's the film and the book. Write something about that.' It's really nice to have those limitations because otherwise, where do you start?" Unbroken is the second film that Angelina Jolie has directed, however the 39-year-old was forced to miss the Hollywood premiere on Monday night as she was recovering from chicken pox. Angelina's family showed their support by attending in her place, as Brad Pitt posed on the red carpet with their children Maddox, Pax and Shiloh along with his parents Bill and Jane.
