Elton John and David Furnish's wedding had a star-studded guestlist which included David and Victoria Beckham, but one of the couple's close friends was missing from the glitzy ceremony. Singer Adele was not present as the pair tied the knot, but the 26-year-old sent her apologies. Elton, 67, shared a photo on Instagram of the kind cards and messages he had received from close friends and family, including a handwritten note from Adele and partner Simon Konecki apologising for missing the special day.

"Biggest congratulations my loves," read the sweet note. "Have a wonderful day. I'm sorry we are not there. See you in 2015. Love Adele, Simon and Angelo. x."
"The perfect end to the perfect day," Elton captioned the image. "So many kind thoughts and wishes. #ShareTheLove." Adele and Elton have been friends for years, although Adele has previously revealed that the first time he got in contact, she thought he was a prank caller, when he called her ahead of the 2012 Grammy Awards. "I had no idea who it as and he just started chatting away," she told the Mirror. "I passed the phone over to a friend and I was like, 'Yeah, it's Elton'. It still cracks me up. It made me think, 'My God, it's another level now'."

The Rocket Man singer's wedding day comes nine years to the day after he and David tied the knot in a civil partnership ceremony, with their two adorable sons Zachary and Elijah acting as ring bearers. While some celebrities choose to have a social media ban during their weddings, Elton gave fans a sneak peek of the ceremony on his recently-created Instagram account, with everything from a photo of the couple exchanging their vows, down to the table centrepieces.
Brooklyn Beckham, 15, also took to Instagram to share the couple's happy day. "Amazing day with family and special friends," he captioned a photo of himself showing off his style credentials in a tailored suit as he sat with fashion icon mum Victoria. "Congratulations Uncle Elton and Uncle David #ShareTheLove." Other guests included Elizabeth Hurley and her son Damian, as well as David Walliams and supermodel wife Lara Stone. Lulu, Hugh Grant, Susannah Constantine, Ed Sheeran and Burberry boss Christopher Bailey also stepped out for the touching ceremony.
