Imran Khan has reportedly confirmed that he has married his girlfriend, former BBC presenter Reham Khan. The Pakistani politician apparently told a group of reporters at Heathrow airport on Monday night that he was a married man. The 62-year-old told Murtza Ali Shah of Geo News that he was planning to "share the good news with the nation" on Tuesday following his arrival back in Pakistan. The former cricketer hinted again that an official announcement is coming soon as he spoke at a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday. Imran explained that it was important for him to inform his sons first, telling the press they were his "first priority".

Imran Khan has reportedly confirmed his second marriage

"For ten years I did not even think about getting married again because I did not want to hurt my children," he said. "Until I spoke to my children I did not want to make any statements about my marriage. "I got the chance to meet my children… I will tell you the good news this week." Speculation about the nuptials began in October, when Imran's ex-wife Jemima Khan said that she was reverting to her family name as her ex-husband was about to remarry. "My ex-husband, Imran, recently announced that he intended to get re-married soon, which made me think it's probably time to change my name back to Goldsmith," she said.

The former couple married in a traditional Islamic ceremony in Paris in 1995, and had two children together before their divorce in 2004. Imran's new wife Reham worked for the BBC as a weather presenter until 2013, when she moved back to her native Pakistan. The 41-year-old has three children from her previous marriage. Imran's sister Aleema Khan expressed surprise at the news when asked about the wedding, telling the MailOnline: "Really? Really? Let's see if he announces it officially. I am taken aback."
