Bryan Ferry thanks fans for messages of support after son Merlin's car crash

Bryan Ferry has thanked supporters for their well-wishes after his son was involved in a serious car accident just before Christmas.

Merlin Ferry, 24, was involved in a three-car collision in a country lane in Shropshire on 22 December, and sustained a head injury and multiple fractures to his legs, pelvis and left arm.

"On behalf of BF and the family, many thanks for all the kind messages of support for Merlin following his road accident before Christmas," a statement on the Roxy Music star's Facebook page read.

"Merlin has undergone a series of operations and is now stable in hospital, with a long period of recovery ahead."

"A huge thank you to the amazing emergency services provided by the Wellington Fire Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service, together with the superb care and attention from all the medical staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham."

Shortly after the accident took place, Merlin's older brother Otis Ferry also expressed his gratitude to the fire service, tweeting, "Thank you for extracting my brother alive from what looks like a mangled box of tin. We are all continuing to pray."
