Elton John is riding high on the joy of family life, following his star-studded wedding to David Furnish last month and the couple's paradise honeymoon abroad shortly after. Sunday brought just as special an occasion to celebrate – their son Elijah's second birthday. Posting a sweet photo of the birthday boy on Instagram, Elton, 67, had a special message for his youngest boy. "Happy birthday to our favourite little Mouseketeer," Elton wrote alongside the image. "Two years ago today we received the greatest gift of all. #ShareTheLove."

The hashtag has become somewhat of a trademark for Elton, who has been using the phrase to caption most of his photos on Instagram – the account he set up especially on the eve of his December wedding to share his big day with fans. In his latest family snap, little Elijah looks wrapped up in his celebrations as he briefly glances up at the camera and is captured mid-grin. The young boy clearly had a lot to smile about, as he looked ready to dig in to his Mickey Mouse-themed cake. David, 52, showed just as much enthusiasm as he re-posted Elton's photo with the same caption.

Elton and David married on 21 December 2014, nine years to the day that they first tied the knot in a civil partnership ceremony in 2005. The couple chose their Windsor estate as their wedding venue, and made sure that both of their sons Zachary, four, and Elijah played the all-important role of ring bearers. In one heart-warming snap posted the night before the wedding, Elton took a close-up photo of his sons' shoes positioned before a crackling fire.

"Our little ring bearers are fast asleep, and their shoes are polished and ready for tomorrow's celebration. @DavidFurnish #ShareTheLove," wrote Elton. Elizabeth Hurley, David Walliams, and Victoria and David Beckham, whose two eldest sons Brooklyn and Romeo count Elton as their godfather, were among the celebrity guests invited to the star-studded wedding.
