To the outside world, it might seem an unlikely friendship, but Gwyneth Paltrow counts Beyoncé Knowles and Jay Z among her closest inner circle. In a candid chat with Howard Stern this week, the actress spoke about her famous friends – and even revealed how she phoned up the power couple after the now-infamous incident at the Met Gala last year. "My best famous friend is Cameron Diaz," Gwyneth revealed, adding, "Jay and Beyoncé are my others."

The actress said she became close to the music stars after meeting them at a benefit in New York years ago. "We all became friends," she said. "I normally don't do that, but (we vibed) in that particular case. "They're the greatest people. They are funny and sweet and self-aware and really intelligent." Howard then quizzed his guest about how she responded to the lift footage of Jay Z's altercation with Solange Knowles.

"I never say, 'What's going on?'," she replied. "If any of my friends have anything like that, I call right away. Absolutely. If someone's clearly going through something, I always go straight for it." Gwyneth's chat with Howard certainly proved revealing. The Mortdecai star also spoke about her past romance with Brad Pitt, admitting he was the one that got away. "I definitely fell in love with him," she said of the handsome Hollywood actor, who she dated for three years after meeting on the set of 1995 film Seven.

"He was so gorgeous and sweet. I mean, he was Brad Pitt. I was such a kid, I was 22 when we met. It's taken me until 40 to get my head out of my a**. You can't make that decision when you’re 22-years-old… I wasn't ready and he was too good for me. I didn't know what I was doing."
