After a busy few weeks promoting her new film Mortdecai, Gwyneth Paltrow let her hair down on a holiday to Mexico to celebrate her friend Crystal Lourd's 50th birthday. The 42-year-old was joined by her two children, Apple and Moses, for the extravagant birthday celebrations which included a "jam-packed" itinerary of activities. A source told Us Weekly that Gwyneth was "drinking margaritas" and "dancing on the beach" with friends during the day, while her children played in the sea nearby. The insider said that on the first night guests enjoyed a Mexican-themed beach party complete with a photo booth and props, plus a fireworks show over the ocean.

The following night the group partied at a private house, Casa China Blanca, after a day spent lounging on the beach. "They stayed on the beach all day long," the source revealed. "Her kids didn't want to get out of the ocean except to have lunch". Gwyneth is also have said to have practiced some toning exercises from her personal trainer friend Tracy Anderson while on the beach at the Punta Mita resort.

No doubt the actress was keen to relax after a whirlwind promotional tour for her latest film. Gwyneth made appearances on The Today Show and Watch What Happens Live along with a candid interview on Howard Stern's radio show when she opened up about her famous friends and relationships with Chris Martin and Brad Pitt. Addressing speculation that her ex-husband has moved on with Hollywood starlet Jennifer Lawrence, Gwyneth said that she respects his decision. "Who says I don't approve of Jennifer Lawrence? I respect him as the father of my children… It's his decision… He wouldn't be with someone who isn't great."
