Sam Smith got fans talking this week by hinting he has split up from his boyfriend of two months, Jonathan Zeizel. The pair confirmed they were dating at the end of last year, but as he stood on stage in Toronto on Tuesday evening, Sam seemed to suggest that their fledgling romance had come to an end. The 22-year-old singer sent the rumour mill into overdrive as he introduced the break-up ballad Good Thing. "This song is very special for me today, as I've actually had to do a very similar thing with someone I've been seeing," he told the crowd, according to the Sun.
Later that same night, Sam shared a sad selfie on Instagram. "Sometimes you just need to lay in bed with a glass of red wine and a football T-shirt and listen to Joni Mitchell," he captioned the photograph. "It's been a sad day. Beautiful show, but sad day x." Sam started dating model Jonathan after they met on the set of his music video for Like I Can. He first spoke about their romance in December. "It's very early days. I'm talking very, very, very early days," he told The Sun. "But he's really sweet. I met him on the video for Like I Can, he was one of 20 extras…
"It's a surreal thing to be talking about because I haven't even confirmed with him that we're officially seeing each other." Shortly afterwards, Sam and Jonathan spent the New Year together in Australia, sharing a number of photos from their holiday on social media.
