David Beckham has been pictured working up a sweat at the gym just days after revealing his three-year-old daughter Harper calls him "chubby". The 39-year-old was seen leaving a SoulCycle spinning class in Los Angeles on Thursday, which he has previously admitted he is "obsessed" with.

"I'm at SoulCycle a lot. I'm very obsessed. It's a workout that I love," he told E! News. "It's a workout I enjoy and to be honest since I finished playing there aren't too many workouts that I do enjoy. So when you find one, you stick with it."

He added: "I think it's so important for people to understand that working out is not just about having a great body.

"Working out is about feeling good within yourself and being healthy."

However it appears David's three-year-old daughter Harper doesn't think her father's fitness efforts are paying off. In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday night, the father-of-four revealed that his youngest child called him "chubby".

"My little girl turned around to me the other day – I had just bathed her and I was towelling her down, and she said, 'Daddy, I love you so much. But I don't like you, you're so chubby.' I mean, I didn't think I was," he laughed.

Despite Harper's comments, David says he doesn't feel pressure to stay in shape.

"I don't feel pressure to stay in shape. I've never felt that kind of pressure because I stay in shape because of my children," he told E! News. "They help me stay in shape, having four kids running around after them. That helps. But I've never felt the pressure. I just enjoy feeling fit."

The sports star, who will celebrate his 40th birthday in May, has also said that he is looking forward to the milestone celebrations.

"I'm not worried about turning 40. People keep turning around and saying, 'You're turning 40 – how do you feel?' And I'm like 'I feel fine, I'm looking forward to it.' I just don't want a big party because I don't like that kind of attention, but I'll do a quiet dinner with friends."
