Stephen Fry and Elliott Spencer were surprised with a celebratory cake during a visit to Cambridge University on Thursday. The newlyweds were gifted with the delicious culinary creation after the QI presenter took part in a debate at the 800-year-old institution. "The adorable darlings of the @cambridgeunion had such a surprise for me last night," tweeted Stephen on Friday evening. "We're now tucking in. #yum."

The cake was personalised especially for 57-year-old Stephen and his 27-year-old husband, featuring the letters 'S' and 'E' and bearing the Oscar Wilde quote: "Never love anybody who treats you like you're ordinary." Stephen, who studied English Literature at the University of Cambridge and is Honorary fellow of Queens' College, and Elliott are particular fans of Oscar Wilde. On their wedding day the couple paid tribute to The Picture of Dorian Gray writer by having the ceremony witnessed by a mini Oscar Wilde doll. The duo also wore matching green carnations in their lapels, a nod to Victorian men who would often wear the flowers made popular by the Irish author. Stephen himself also portrayed Oscar in the 1997 film Wilde.

London-born Stephen recently dismissed media reports that he is ready to start a family with his new husband. The TV star recently gave his first interview since tying the knot with the comedian, in which he apparently hinted the newlyweds would soon hear the "patter of tiny feet". But asked outright by a Twitter follower on Tuesday whether he had "baby plans", Stephen replied, "No – don't believe what you read it the papers!" Speculation began when Stephen was asked by The Sun about the prospect of having children with Elliott. "Well, that's peeping into Volume 2," he apparently replied, referring to his two autobiographies. "Volume One, the marriage is still… I hope it will never close, but in Volume Two the little family, the patter of tiny feet. Come back to me on that one!"

Stephen announced that he and Elliott had tied the knot at a registry office in Dereham on 17th January with a sweet photo of them both signing the register. "Gosh. @ElliottGSpencer and I go into a room as two people, sign a book and leave as one. Amazing," he captioned the shot.
