Ryan Reynolds has spoken about his newborn daughter – who, contrary to popular belief, is not called Violet. His wife Blake Lively gave birth to their little princess in late December at the Westchester Medical Centre near their home in Bedford, New York.
A tweet was published by someone claiming to work at the centre congratulating the couple and referring to the baby as Violet.

Asked about the name by USA Today, the heart-throb replied: "No that’s not the name. I don’t want to get into that but I don’t know where that came from.”
While the new dad didn't reveal what the baby is called, he did shed some light on fatherhood. The couple have not yet hired a nanny and their daughter is awake every 45 minutes, leading the Green Lantern star to jokingly refer to himself as "the bloodless ghost of Ryan Reynolds”.
Ryan jokes he has become a bloodless ghost because of the lack of sleep
The 38-year-old said the most exciting aspect of being away on promotional duties for his film Mississippi Grind was getting a good night's sleep. Ryan said: "It’s still so new that it’s hard to conceive being away for more than seven hours at a time. I had to go to Sundance this last week. I was more excited to get a good night’s sleep. It was borderline pornographic for me.”
He and Blake have become adept at ducking out of the limelight when they want some privacy. Their romantic Southern wedding organised by close friend Martha Stewart took place quietly on 9 September, 2012, in South Carolina. Despite several high profile guests including their friend singer Florence Welsh, who performed, the ceremony was held entirely behind closed doors.
Then the Hollywood beauty waited until she was five months along to announce her pregnancy, which she did bypublishing a picture of her blossoming belly on her lifestyle site.
