Ryan Reynolds admits Blake Lively is no longer the most important woman in his life

February 6, 2015

Blake Lively has moved down the pecking order in the Reynolds household since a certain new arrival. Ryan Reynolds has revealed that his wife is no longer the number one lady in his life. The actor, who is currently promoting his new film Mississipi Grind, said that his baby daughter is now his top priority.

"I used to say to [Blake], 'I would take a bullet for you. I could never love anything as much as I love you,'" Ryan told David Letterman. "I would say that to my wife. And the second I looked in that baby's eyes, I knew in that exact moment that if we were ever under attack, I would use my wife as a human shield to protect that baby."

However it's not all bad for Blake, as Ryan has said that he loves her more than ever since they welcomed their baby girl.

Ryan Reynolds said he loves Blake Lively more than ever since they had their daughter

"I'm not one for vomiting declarations out across the airways, but when we had that baby, I fell more in love with my wife than I'd ever been in my entire life," he said.

The doting dad also promised that he wouldn't brag about his baby's intelligence.

"Everyone thinks their baby is a genius. People find it delightfully refreshing when I tell them, 'My baby? Totally average. Like, 100 percent average,'" he joked.

Despite his openness in discussing his new arrival, one thing Ryan won't reveal is her name.

The doting dad still won't reveal his baby daughter's name

The baby was previously believed to be called Violet, but Ryan has admitted that isn't her name.

"It is a very pretty name, but that's Ben Affleck's daughter's name. We'd never steal another celebrity's baby's name, so we went with Shiloh," he joked.

The 38-year-old explained that it isn't that he doesn't want to share her name, he just prefers to do so on a private basis.

"I never know how to play that because I’m in the public eye and I don't know whether to just thrust this child into the public eye," the actor explained on The Late Show with David Letterman.

"I don't want to say it in a media context – I tell everyone who I meet, so it'll come out."
