Lewis Hamilton has thanked his fans for their support following his split from Nicole Scherzinger. The 30-year-old took to Twitter on Friday to break his silence, two days after the couple's break up was revealed.
"Hi everyone. I want to thank you all for the love & support during this tough time. It means the world to me. #TeamLH #bestfansintheworld", Lewis wrote.
It is the first time that Lewis has addressed the break up from his girlfriend of seven years. The Formula One champion returned to London on Thursday after completing pre-season testing in Jerez, Spain.
Nicole and Lewis reportedly ended their relationship for the fourth time due to the pressures of a long distance relationship and their differing views on marriage.
Former Pussycat Doll Nicole spoke out about the split on Thursday and admitted that she was "devastated" her relationship had come to an end.
"I'm devastated that it didn't work out. It was the hardest decision we had to make, but we made it together," Nicole told The Sun's Dan Wootton.

The singer also maintained that she and Lewis still love each other.
"I love Lewis and I know he loves me," she said. "We wish nothing but happiness and the very best for one another. I'm trying to stay strong in my faith right now."
Nicole has been focusing on her last few days in the West End musical Cats, although she appeared downcast when she arrived for rehearsals on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old has been supported by her family since the recent split, with her mother Rosemary and elderly grandmother flying to London from Hawaii to be by her side.
A friend told MailOnline: "Nicole was really lifted by her family's visit. It was the first time her grandmother had been to visit her in London, and it couldn't have come at a better time.
"She's been throwing herself into work for the past few weeks and it's been a real tonic. They both care about each other deeply, and really wanted this to work out."
