"Bruce walked around the accident scene without obvious injuries, but his car was damaged," they added.
Shortly afterwards, his son Brody, 31, was pictured arriving at the scene with his girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter. The pair looked visibly upset as they made phone calls to the rest of the family, while Bruce spoke to police. He cooperated fully with authorities and passed a sobriety test, a spokesperson for the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Station said, as well as submitting a blood test at the Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, California.
Kendall Jenner, Bruce's eldest daughter with his former wife Kris, was also spotted driving to her older sister Khloé Kardashian's house, to seek comfort.
Bruce Jenner's SUV (left) is said to have crashed into a white Lexus
While the reason for the accident is still being investigated, the same witness speaking to People noted that Bruce did not appear to cause the incident.
Police confirmed that a Prius started the accident when it came to a stop on the motorway. A white Lexus crashed into it, and was then rear-ended by Bruce's SUV, causing the Lexus to travel into opposing traffic and be struck by a black Hummer.
The 70-year-old woman who was driving the Lexus, who was reportedly one of Bruce's neighbours, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another woman and five children were also said to be hospitalised.
Sources added that the Lexus driver had been slowing down when she was hit, and that Bruce had not been speeding.

Following the accident that took place around midday, traffic was stopped in both directions and the highway closed for several hours.
Bruce's private life has been in the spotlight for the past several weeks, after reports emerged that he is making a transition to become a woman. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star is expected to give an interview in May explaining his dramatic decision, and also film scenes of his "journey" on the family's TV series as well as on a new reality TV show.
