New couple Louis Smith and Lucy Mecklenburgh have given their first joint interview to HELLO! magazine. The Olympic athlete and the former TOWIE star have been dating for several months – and reveal how they first fell in love.

"I've tried to sweep her off her feet," Louis told HELLO!. "We've only been seeing each other for three months but it feels so easy, as if we've known each other for ages." Revealing details of the first time they spent time together, Lucy added: "It was probably the best first date I've ever had" with Louis cooking spaghetti and meatballs and inviting Lucy to help him put up his Christmas tree. Things are going so well that Lucy has already met Louis' mother Elaine. "My mum definitely approves of Lucy," Louis says.

"One of things I really like about Lucy is that she is close to her family, too. She has good family morals and has been brought up well." For her part, Lucy says she trusts her new love 100 per cent. "I've experienced what it feels like [to have an unfaithful partner] so I would never cheat," she said. "I trust Louis completely and I don't think I've ever felt that way before. His mum even said to me on New Year's Eve, 'Louis would never cheat on you. He would never hurt you'."
