Bruce Jenner has expressed his "deepest sympathy" following a fatal multi-car accident that resulted in one driver losing their life and left seven others injured. The reality star issued a statement after being involved in a collision on the Pacific Coast Highway on Saturday, and said he is cooperating with police as they investigate the incident further. "My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident," Bruce, 65, said in a statement released on Sunday by his publicist.

"It is a devastating tragedy, and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible." Former Olympian Bruce passed a sobriety test at the scene and voluntarily submitted a blood sample. It had initially been reported that paparazzi were chasing his vehicle, but police have said that there is "no evidence" that photographers played any role in the crash. "Bruce seemed physically ok after the accident, but he acted extremely concerned about the other people involved," an eyewitness told People.

The accident took place on the Pacific Coast Highway

Police have confirmed that a Prius started the accident when it came to a stop on the motorway. A white Lexus crashed into it, and was then rear-ended by Bruce's SUV, causing the Lexus to travel into opposing traffic and be struck by a black Hummer. The Lexus driver, a 70-year-old woman who was reportedly one of Bruce's neighbours, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another woman and five children were hospitalised. Bruce's name has frequently appeared in the news in recent weeks, amid reports he is making the transition to become a woman. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star is expected to give an interview in May explaining his dramatic decision, and also film scenes of his "journey" on the family's TV series as well as on a new reality TV show.
