Man of the moment Eddie Redmayne may have taken home the Leading Actor award at the BAFTAs on Sunday night, but the newlywed had another thing on his mind after accepting his award – his wife, Hannah Bagshawe.

"I love married life!" Eddie declared at the winners' press conference backstage at the Royal Opera House.

The 33-year-old was joined at the ceremony by his wife, who looked glamorous in a metallic embellished Valentino gown. The newlyweds walked the red carpet together, and Eddie admitted that Hannah found the attention he received from fans "quite funny".

Eddie and Hannah tied the knot in a romantic candlelit ceremony at Babington House in December. The couple went on a romantic honeymoon to the Alps, but they were forced to cut the trip short to attend the Golden Globes in January.

Despite a whirlwind few weeks throughout awards season, Eddie said that he won't be taking a break just yet – he starts filming his new movie, The Danish Girl, on Tuesday.

However, Eddie plans to take his wife on a second honeymoon as soon as the film is finished.

"The plan is to go and sit on a beach somewhere – she certainly deserves it," he said, adding: "[I can] get a few more freckles."

Eddie also revealed that filming The Theory of Everything was a "very intense shoot, which took its toll", so he would unwind by cooking for his wife, who works at an Antiques Dealership in London.

"Hannah works – she has a proper job so I cooked dinner!" Eddie said.

Despite winning a Golden Globe, SAG and now a BAFTA award, the humble actor is not letting the attention go to his head.

"It does feel very surreal," he told People. "But I don't think you can take it too seriously, because you know it could be gone in a shot."
