Carol Vorderman has given an exclusive interview to HELLO! about love, life and her plans for 2016. The 54-year-old has made significant changes in her life in the last few months, both personally and professionally, but said she couldn't be more excited about the year ahead.
"Last year I made two big decisions," Carol told HELLO! "I came off Loose Women as there were other things I wanted to do. And I came out of a relationship, which had run its course."
Despite the changes in her life in the last year, Carol is looking forward to her future plans, which includes embarking on a solo flight around the world in spring 2016.
Carol Vorderman said 2015 is shaping up to be the best year ever
"I look at my diary for this year and, oh my God, it's the best year ever," she exclaimed. "I'm loving my life and have found my next chapter."
Carol split from her boyfriend of two years, pilot Graham Duff, in September. The ex-Red Arrows Squadron leader was going to accompany her on her round-the-world trip in a support plane, but she is now planning to embark on the trip alone.
"It's very exciting but very serious, which is why I've got to get good. That's what this year is about – flying, flying, flying."
Carol is scaling back her TV commitments to focus on flying and will pick up her new plane, which is being made for her in Vienna, in May. The presenter, who is the first honorary female group captain as an ambassador to the RAF Air Cadets, also spoke of her passion for flying with the magazine.
"It can be very spiritual," she said. "It can be a great unburdening of stuff. When you're up there you're not thinking about things like, 'Oh so-and-so's had a row with so-and-so.' Who cares? You realise how tiny you are in the great scheme of things. Just be happy, enjoy your life."
