Sienna Miller makes her debut performance in Broadway's Cabaret

February 18, 2015

Sienna Miller's smile said it all. On Tuesday evening, the British actress made her highly-anticipated debut performance in the Broadway production of Cabaret, and received rapturous applause at her curtain call. Sienna, 33, impressed critics and theatre-goers with her turn as sexy singer Sally Bowles in the Sam Mendes-directed production. She recently took over the role from Emma Stone, and as she stood on stage with the cast was presented with a bunch of flowers from co-star Alan Cumming, who has starred as emcee since the show's opening last April.

Despite her huge success on the night, Sienna had previously spoken of her fears at taking on the iconic role. "It's a really saucy part and there are gorgeous costume and in one of the scenes I do this dance… in this sexy black cape," she said during a recent interview on Good Morning America. "But I had this dream that I did the first show and my boyfriend came backstage and said it was really underwhelming! He was like, 'You've got to pick it up.' Alan Cumming wouldn't look me in the eye… and I woke up in a panic."

She also spoke about having to put on a vocal performance. "I've never publicly sang or danced unless mildly intoxicated so this is going to be an interesting experiment," the star said. Sienna will grace the stage for the remaining six weeks of the show's run, which is scheduled to close on 29 March. It's been a busy time for the mum-of-one, who also starred in two of the year's most talked about films; American Sniper and Foxcatcher.

Bradley Cooper is also currently appearing on Broadway, in The Elephant Man

Coincidentally, her American Sniper co-star Bradley Cooper is also starring on Broadway. The Oscar-nominated actor is currently continuing his run in The Elephant Man, which will come to an end on Saturday so he can attend the Academy Awards the following evening. Bradley, 40, has won rave reviews for his portrayal of John Merrick, and this summer will take to the stage in the West End when The Elephant Man opens in London for a 12-week stint, from 9 May until 8 August.
