Selena Gomez has talked about her relationship with Justin Bieber, describing him as her "first love". The 22-year-old dated Justin on and off for three years before finally parting ways in 2014, but she insists she wouldn't change a thing about their highly publicised romance.
"When you're young and you're being told so many different things… it almost felt like all we had was each other, like the world was against us in a way," Selena told V magazine.
"It was really weird but it was incredible. I would never take it back in a million years. You live and you learn, you know?"
Selena Gomez has opened up about her relationship with Justin Bieber
Selena was interviewed by her Spring Breakers co-star James Franco for the publication. The actress told him that she has learned from her experiences with Justin, and will behave differently in future relationships.
"I think the next time (I have a boyfriend) will be much different… which will definitely not be anything soon," she revealed.
"That's a growing up kind of thing. I was 18 years old and it was my first love. The older I get, I'm guarding certain things more."
While Selena was careful not to name her ex-boyfriend, it was evident that she was talking about Justin. Despite admitting to feeling "a little depressed" when they broke up, Selena is grateful for the life experience that it gave her.
Selena Gomez says she is optimistic about the future
"I'm super stoked that I've got some bumps on me, some scars, some bruises. I actually really love that. And I don't mean that in a morbid way."
The multi-talented star has since moved on and has recently been linked to music producer Zedd. Selena has been working on new music with her rumoured new boyfriend, and is currently filming The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving with Paul Rudd.
Selena is optimistic about the year ahead, telling James: "I think this year is going to be incredible. I feel the best I've ever felt in my life."
