Just as her erotic movie Fifty Shades of Grey proves a box office hit, Dakota Johnson is apparently single. According to US Weekly, the starlet split up with Welsh musician Matthew Hitt sometime over the holidays.
The last time they were photographed together in public was in December in New York, where he has lived since 2011. Matthew, who is the lead singer and guitarist with indie rock band Drowners, hasn't been by her side on the hectic promotional trail.

On Oscar night Dakota's plus one was her proud mother Melanie Griffith. The 25-year-old actress hardly had time to recover after the biggest party in the Tinseltown calendar. She jetted out of Los Angeles airport on an early morning flight on Monday to continue work.
It's thought the pressure of the tour took its toll on the couple. A source told the US publication that her life was "getting too crazy and it wasn't something he wanted to be part of".

The young beauty, whose father is Miami Vice star Don Johnson, spoke to Vogue recently about being in the eye of the whirlwind. "I think about my dwindling anonymity," she told the magazine. "And that's really scary because a very large part of me would be perfectly happy living on a ranch in Colorado and having babies and chickens and horses – which I will do anyway."

For now though, she is on a rollercoaster ride as thrilling and scary as any experienced by her character Anastasia Steele with the mysterious Christian Grey. "It's just the most insane thing to be a part of," Dakota said. "I've never experienced anything like this; I don't think anyone has. It's terrifying – and it's exciting."
