It was a sight to melt even the coldest of hearts when Hilary Duff and Lisa Osbourne took their young children for an ice-cream date in sunny California. The doting mums have been friends for years, and judging by their Instagram photos, they enjoyed a day out bonding with each other's kids.
Jack Osbourne's wife Lisa was the first to share a sweet snap of her daughter Pearl and Hilary's son Luca, who are both two-years-old.
"Two of the sweetest babes I know, Luca & Pearl!@hilaryduff #icecream #gelato," Lisa, who is pregnant with her second baby, captioned the photo.
Hilary was quick to echo her friend's feelings as she posted a similar snap of the youngsters, this time of her son Luca looking up at the camera and giving a cheeky grin. "Luca&Pearl's ice cream date @mrslisao we made some cuties," wrote the Lizzie McGuire star.
The two parents both welcomed their little ones in 2012, with Hilary giving birth in March, just one month before Lisa. The following year the pair attended the same baby class in West Hollywood and Hilary and Lisa have remained close since.
The sweet outing with her son will have come as a welcome break for Hilary, who will have wanted to take her mind off her recent split. The American beauty filed for divorce from her estranged husband Mike Comrie last week, with court papers citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their break-up.
According to TMZ, Hilary listed the couple's separation date as January 2013, a year earlier than news of their split was made public. She is said to be seeking sole custody of their son Luca.
"They tried couples' therapy, but in the end, they realised at this time, they work better as friends. And they really are great friends," a source told People of Hilary and Mike's amicable split.
Fellow mum Lisa, meanwhile, also announced last week that she is pregnant with her and Jack's second baby. The lifestyle blogger wrote on her site: "I'm pregnant! Pearl is very happy to become a big sister. She diligently reads her 'I'm a big sister' books every night & recites to me her plans of bathing, feeding, singing to, and holding the baby. We are more than halfway through this thing & are very excited to be parents again! Thanks for all the well wishes."
