Kirstie Allsopp hosts star-studded fundraising event for the Prince's Regeneration Trust at Kensington Palace

Property guru Kirstie Allsopp joined a host of top celebrities to support a fundraising dinner for The Prince's Regeneration Trust. The Location, Location, Location presenter hosted the PRT's inaugural Best of British gala dinner and auction at Kensington Palace on Thursday evening and was supported by Anglophile US author Bill Bryson and comedian Griff Rhys Jones, who both spoke at the event.

Also attending were TV presenters Kevin McCloud and Steven Moore, from BBC's Antiques Roadshow. The five, all property and heritage enthusiasts, are ambassadors for PRT, which aims to save much-loved buildings and in doing so transform lives, focusing its regeneration work on the most deprived areas of the UK.

The President of the PRT, which aims to "support and strengthen communities by rescuing and reusing important British buildings at risk of being lost forever through demolition or decay", Prince Charles, was unable to attend and sent his apologies. Guests included many high-profile figures from the property sector and the wider business community. The evening, included a live auction hosted by Griff as well as a silent auction and raffle.

Kirstie said: "I'm delighted to have hosted the very first 'Best of British' Gala Dinner and Auction in aid of The Prince’s Regeneration Trust."

"Heritage, recycling and nurturing traditional British artisan talents are all close to my heart and are central to what PRT does. "The money we raise tonight will make a huge difference to PRT’s work, allowing them to save more cherished buildings and create jobs and opportunities in deprived communities." she continued.

A grand total of £125,000 was rasied on the evening and will go towards work in areas of deprivation and places that will benefit most from the regeneration and economic growth the Trust offers.
