"It's finally here, @WorldBookDayUK & the #WalliamsWhirlwind is about to begin!" tweeted David. "First stop in my helicopter this morning is Great Missenden. "Great Missenden Primary School I am in my way! #WalliamsWhirlwind," he added alongside a photo of himself giving a double thumbs up sign. While David, who has one-year-old son Alfred with his model wife Lara, has not directly addressed rumours of a split, he did appear to allude to the recent drama in a reassuring tweet on Wednesday evening. "The #WalliamsWhirlwind helicopter tour of schools for @WorldBookDayUK tomorrow will go ahead as planned," he wrote. "So not to disappoint my young fans."

"Ready for take-off! #WalliamsWhirlwind"

David's tour of the UK will include visits to schools in London, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Cardiff, Birmingham and Bristol. The London-born author has proved a hit with kids around the world following the release of his seven childrens books, which include Billionaire Boy, Ratburger and Demon Dentist. Three of his books, The Boy in the Dress, Mr Stink and Gangsta Granny, have also been adapted into Christmas films for the BBC.

David and Lara have reportedly separated after five years of marriage

Reports that David and Lara had gone their separate ways began to circulate on Tuesday when the Sun claimed that the Dutch model had left the couple's marital home in North London with their Alfred and their dog Bert. The publication went on to say that David is "devastated" by the split and hopes that the pair can reconcile. "David hopes it's a blip and that they can get the marriage back on track somehow," said a source. "Especially seeing as there is a child involved."
