Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has paid tribute to her mum Joan with the sweetest snap on Instagram. The singer was celebrating Mother's Day on Sunday by harking back to her childhood in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Posting a photo of herself as a young girl in the company of her family, Cheryl captioned the image: "#HappyMothersday to my Mother and best friend. You have one of the kindest hearts in the world and are the most selfless person I have the pleasure of knowing. I Love you."
The throwback picture showed a cute Cheryl dressed in a white dress and wearing a red ribbon tied in her hair. The brunette beauty was pictured flashing her winning smile at the camera, and clutching the railings of a fun fair ride while her mum sat opposite her.

Fans were quick to note that the retro snap was taken at Metroland, an indoor amusement centre in Gateshead that has now closed down.
Her picture clearly sparked memories among other Instagram users, as one by one her followers commented "That's at metroland! Loved that ride" and "metroland! Oh how I loved it," while others noted how "cute" Cheryl was.
The former Girls Aloud singer, 31, also took the opportunity to wish her ex-bandmate and close friend Kimberley Walsh a happy Mother's Day. New mum Kimberley, 33, gave birth to her first child, a son Bobby, last September.

Cheryl, who is married to Frenchman Jean-Bernard, most recently came out with the single Only Human, with its official digital release date set for 22 March. Earlier this week her husband took to Instagram to complain about the lack of airplay her track was getting.
"I would like an answer on how come people don't push people who deserve it," he wrote. "How come somebody as exceptional as my wife has to fight for being the best and even her own management, label and people that decide who goes on radio don't move their a****?"
