Blake Lively has developed some interesting new hobbies during her maternity leave. The new mum is currently enjoying a break from acting while she spends time with her three-month-old daughter, but she is taking the opportunity to learn some new skills too.

"I'll knit or cook – or work on a motorcycle, a skill my husband is teaching me. One of my latest projects was painting nature-inspired throw pillows." Blake revealed to O Magazine.

As well as disclosing her surprising stress-relieving hobbies, the Gossip Girl star also discussed her approach to parenting, and shared her wish to raise her child with a sense of magic – much like her own mother did.

Blake Lively has revealed her surprising favourite hobbies

"My mom liked to infuse my life with a lot of magic. When she read my fortune cookies, the predictions were full of princesses and castles and jewels and pirates," she said. "When I got old enough to read them, I was shocked to find out how boring they really were!"

While Blake and her husband Ryan Reynolds will not reveal their daughter's name, Blake did say that she will be raised in New York, due to her unwavering love of the city – in particular the food.

"It's constantly changing. I'll go back to an area I visited four years ago, and it's completely different. But that's a good thing because it means there will always be new neighbourhoods to eat my way through."

Blake has clearly taken to being a mother and previously said it is "the happiest time in my life".

"I don't feel like it's a massive change," she told People magazine, adding that she is keen to have a big family with her Green Lantern actor husband.

"This is the happiest time in my life in my life, and I could say that every day. I often feel like, 'I can't believe I'm experiencing this.'"
