Liza Minnelli is doing well after checking herself in to an undisclosed rehab centre several days ago. Scott Gorenstein, a spokesman for the 69-year-old Oscar-winning actress, said that she is making "excellent progress" at the facility. "Liza Minnelli has valiantly battled substance abuse over the years," read a statement made by the star's representatives. "And whenever she has needed to seek treatment she has done so. "She is currently making excellent progress at an undisclosed facility."

New York, New York actress Liza has been open about previously undergoing treatment for alcohol and painkiller addiction and completed her last stint in rehab in 2004. The singer has also been plagued by ill health in recent years and in September she underwent surgery on a back injury that had prevented her from performing for most of the year. Liza is the daughter of film legend Judy Garland, who tragically passed away as the result of an accidental overdose at the age of 47, when her eldest daughter Liza was just 23. Hollywood-born Liza, who won an Academy Award for her role in 1972 film Cabaret, is one of only a few stars to have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award.

Liza has been married four times, most recently to concert promoter David Gest. The pair married in 2002 and divorced in 2007. Prior to her union with David, Liza was married to sculptor and stage manager Mark Gero for 13 years, tying the knot in 1979 and divorcing in 1992. In 1974 she married producer and director Jack Haley Jr, whose father Jack Haley starred The Wizard of Oz alongside Liza's mother Judy, Liza's first husband was Peter Allen, who she was married to for seven years until 1974.
