Elizabeth Hurley had a surprise date for the premiere of her new television show The Royals on Tuesday night. The actress was joined by her 12-year-old son Damian for the event, which was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in London.
Damian, whose father is American businessman and film producer Steve Bing, looked grown up in a smart suit and purple tie as he escorted his mum down the Union Jack patterned carpet.
Elizabeth appeared happy to have her son by her side at the premiere for the new TV show, in which she portrays the Queen. The 49-year-old recently revealed that Damian had spent a lot of time on set of the new programme during filming of the first series.
"Last summer, during his vacation from school he was on the film set and he loved every single second of it," she said during an interview on This Morning.
"He adores it. He really wants to do it," Elizabeth added, saying he's not sure if he wants to work on or off-screen yet.
It is not surprising that Damian is interested in pursuing a career in film and television; as well as having an actress mum and film producer dad, his godfather is About a Boy star Hugh Grant.
The Royals is not Elizabeth's first foray into TV – she previously starred in Gossip Girl – and she insists she's enjoying the move from movies to the small screen.
"It was very interesting for me doing television because I'd done movies for years, and then I took quite a lot of time off to raise my son and then when I came back into the industry, this was the opportunity and it was television," she told MIPCOM. "But I've always been a massive fan of television. I think you have some of the best writing, some of the best producing, and some of the best acting anywhere coming out of television."
