Their romance has come under intense scrutiny in the last fortnight, and Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards decided it was time to leave the UK this week for a much-needed Easter break. The couple were pictured boarding a private airplane to spend some time together away from the glare of the media spotlight.It is not known where they were headed, but they were also joined by Zayn's mum Trisha, his sisters and his cousin as they made their way onto the luxury aircraft.

Perrie, 21, and Zayn, 22, have been under a great deal of strain ever since the boyband singer announced he was leaving One Direction. The couple, who got engaged in August 2013, have been rocked by persistent claims of his infidelity – but have gone out of their way to show that they are stronger than ever.On the same day that Zayn announced he was quitting 1D, they were spotted house-hunting together in Hertfordshire, and on Monday, Little Mix singer Perrie was photographed on a girls-only shopping trip with Trisha and his sisters.The couple are also said to be bringing their wedding plans forward – and could possibly tie the knot sometime this spring.

Zayn has made it clear that he is looking forward to a life away from the spotlight, despite having already headed into the recording studio with Naughty Boy, who later released – and then deleted – Zayn's first solo demo on Soundcloud.The singer confirmed he was leaving 1D last Wednesday after five years in the record-breaking band. "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined," he said in a statement. "But after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. "I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. "I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world."
