John Lennon's son Julian has paid a beautiful tribute to his mother Cynthia – who passed away on Wednesday after a short battle with cancer – with a video posted on YouTube. The short film, entitled "In Loving Memory", is a compilation of intimate photographs of the Lennon family from the 1960's, and throughout the rest of Cynthia's life. It starts with the lyrics, "You gave your life for me. You gave your life for love. "Family pictures of Cynthia and John with Julian as a baby – the couple split when Julian was three years old – as well as of Cynthia and John together as a couple, were shown amid the image of burning candles.
Many mother-and-son pictures throughout the years were also shown, as well as images of Cynthia with her latest husband Noel Charles, whom she survived when he passed away in 2013.A statement posted on Julian Lennon's website yesterday said: "Cynthia Lennon passed away today at her home in Mallorca, Spain following a short but brave battle with cancer.
"Her son Julian Lennon was at her bedside throughout. The family are thankful for your prayers."Yoko Ono quickly paid tribute to Cynthia, saying that she was "a great person" who had "a strong zest for life" while Paul McCartney said: "She was a lovely lady... and will be missed by us all, but I will always have great memories of our times together."
Fellow former Beatle Ringo Starr sent his condolences online, tweeting: "Peace and love to Julian Lennon God bless Cynthia love Ringo and Barbara xx".Cynthia was married to the Beatles great John Lennon from 1962 to 1968. She met the legendary musician while the two were both studying at the Liverpool College of Art in the late 1950's, but she lived out of the limelight as she raised the couple's son and John rose to fame.
