Sandra Bullock locked herself in a wardrobe after an intruder broke into her Los Angeles home, a court has heard. A recording of the actress' 15 minute phone call to emergency services during the incident revealed that she was forced to hide away while the suspect banged on her bedroom door.

"Someone has broken into my house. I'm hiding in the closet," Sandra said. "I'm locked in my closet. I have a safe door in my bedroom, and I've locked it, and I'm locked in the closet right now."

The actress continued to say that she can hear the intruder banging on her bedroom door.

"I hear – I hear them. I hear someone banging on the door."

The Blind Side actress was alone at her home at the time of the incident at 6.30am on 8 June 2014. She phoned emergency services after hearing a loud noise and seeing an unknown man heading towards the attic on her home's security cameras.

"I couldn't hear what door it was. It was just a loud – loud crash," the 50-year-old said.

The recording was played at a preliminary hearing for Joshua Corbett, who has been charged with stalking the actress and breaking into her home.

Sandra is not expected to testify during the preliminary hearing, where a judge will decide if there is enough evidence for a trial.

A police officer testified that the 39-year-old was holding a two-page letter to Sandra and a black notebook with magazine photos when he was arrested on the morning of the break-in. Security footage later showed that he had been outside the property on each of the three days before his arrest.

Joshua has pleaded not guilty to several charges including burglary, stalking and possession of a machine gun, and faces up to seven years four months in prison if convicted.
