Blake Lively has been keeping mum about the details surrounding her newborn baby. After three months of rumours, her daughter's name James was finally revealed, and it seems the actress has caused a fresh bout of confusion over who James' godmother really is.
It was previously stated that Blake had called on three very special friends to take on the role – her Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants co-stars Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrara and Alexis Bledel.
However, according to a new report, Blake made no such request.
Blake Lively revealed: "My sister [Robyn] would be the one to take care of my baby"
"I never named them my godmothers," she told E! News. "They're my dear friends. I would say my baby has a lot of fairy godmothers."
The 27-year-old actress, who was the youngest of five children growing up, instead claimed she had someone else in mind for the motherly role. "My sister [Robyn] would be the one to take care of my baby," she said.
The revelation comes after Blake's three co-stars made an appearance on Nick Lachey's VH1 show Morning Buzz Live earlier this week.
Blake Lively said her three Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants were her "best friends to this day"
"You're still very close and the three of you are godmothers to Blake Lively's baby – is that a fact?" Nick asked Amber, to which the Two and a Half Men star replied, "Yes, that is a fact."
The conflict in reports has caused confusion among Blake's fans, but what is certain is that the group of four have always remained good friends since filming two Sisterhood movies.
Amber, America and Alexis were on hand when Blake and Ryan Reynolds tied the knot in a super private ceremony in South Carolina in September 2012, and they all reunited when Amber married David Cross the following month.
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively welcomed baby daughter James in December
"They're my girls, three of my best friends to this day," Blake has previously reaffirmed.
The former Gossip Girl actress and her actor husband welcomed their baby daughter in December 2014, but are yet to show her off in public. Ryan claims he fears his little girl would become annoyed with him later on in life if he revealed too much.
On finally confirming James' name during an appearance on the Today show, Ryan said: "I told everyone who would listen before it was out there that I didn't want to be the first guy screaming it out to the media because, as we know, little girls turn into teenage girls and little teenage girls sometimes scan through the archives and go, "Why did you do that?""
